Yes, you read that right! Stress-Free!!!
Let’s get real, planning a session with your photographer can sometimes be quite stressful. 90% of the time you don’t even know where to start! What should I wear? When should I plan for the session? The list goes on and on!
Lucky for you, this article is going to guide you on 3 tips to help you have a stress-free session!
Although it may or may not seem pretty obvious, it’s really important to coordinate your clothes. Gone are the days where everyone in the family arrives in their white t-shirt and jeans. It’s important to not be “matchy-matchy” and find colors that complement each other! For inspiration and ideas of clothes that compliment each other, check out my Pinterest board.
**Bonus tip- if you are a mom that is planning for your family session, make sure that your outfit is planned before anyone else in the family. That way it’ll be easier to find clothes for your husband and children that complements your outfit!***
Some photographers like to shoot in very harsh lighting. But for a majority of us, most of us like to shoot during the golden hour. Golden hour can best be defined as the glowy light an hour, to two hours, before a sunset. The reason why we like shooting at the golden hour is that there is a certain “glowy-ness”, so to speak.
The reason why you should have your session shot right before sunset is that you will get the absolute best lighting possible.
***Bonus tip- If you are feeling a little more spunky, you can always shoot for a sunrise session! These sessions give the same effect of the “glowy-ness”, it’s just very early in the morning opposed to later in the evening”***
I don’t know about you, but I totally have the song “Be Prepared” from the Lion King stuck in my head.
Be prepared for anything. Be prepared to reschedule your session in case it rains. Allow plenty of time to get to your session because you will never know if you’ll get stuck behind traffic or have to be re-directed. Be prepared to be posed by your photographer. Posing especially, because even lifestyle photographers give you prompts on what to do, even if they aren’t exactly “posing.”
But most of all, be prepared to have a great time with your photographer! When you are looking for a photographer, it’s important to find a photographer that resonates with you. Use your intuition. Choose somebody who will make you feel comfortable, not only when you are talking to them, but in front of the camera. You should have the absolute best experience when working with your photographer!
I hope you have the best stress-free session!
