Wanting to incorporate more self-care into your daily life? This article will go over 5 easy ways to start self-care today.
When you think about self-care, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Steamy bubble baths with a relaxing candle flickering on the bathroom sink?
Often, especially as women, we ditch the self-care to help everyone around us. Although it’s great to serve other people, we tend to forget to serve ourselves. Not serving ourselves with self-care can later lead to exhaustion, burnout, or even depression.
So how do we fix it?
By implementing self-care in our daily lives and make it apart of our routine!
Here are five easy ways to implement self-care that you can start today!
When you start making self-care a priority, finding time for yourself may be hard at first. Let’s face it; we live in a society where we are always busy. But when you start looking for the time for yourself, you’ll be surprised where you can start finding the time!
One example of finding time for yourself would be getting up earlier than everyone else in the house to relax and have an uninterrupted cup of coffee. You can use the time in the morning to pray, exercise or even chill on your couch!
If you have children, you can hire a babysitter or see if a family member/friend can watch them while taking some time for yourself. You use that time to get a Manicure/Pedicure, take yourself out to lunch, or even going on a walk. You don’t need to spend any money to have time to chill!
Speaking of going on a walk, that leads us to the next way to implement self-care!
Exercise is fantastic way to implement self-care! Whether you would rather work out in a gym, outdoors, or in your home, the possibilities are endless!
To get started, here are some examples of exercise for you to do:
Journaling is an awesome way to implement self-care. All you need is a piece of paper to write!
When you are journaling, you can write about whatever you want! You can write what is on your mind, what has been bothering you or is making you happy, pray, use it as a devotional, make to-do lists, brain dump, the options are endless! If you are new to journaling, you are definitely going to want to check this out!
Using journaling as a self-care method, you are taking time to process your thoughts onto paper. Not to mention, it is wonderful for your mental health.

Breathing and/or meditating is a great way to practice self-care! By focusing on your breath, you can learn how to be present and in your body.
Not only is breathing and meditating awesome for your self-care, but again is wonderful for your mental health. In this busy world, you and your body need time to slow down and focus on being in the present moment. Breathing and/or meditating is a wonderful way to do that.
The best for last! Last but not least, here is one of my favorite ways to utilize self-care.
Unplugging from your tv and social media is one of the most beneficial and underutilized ways of self-care.
The problem with technology is how addicting it is. Whether you are scrolling on social, binge watching Netflix, or taking Zoom calls, it is straight-up exhausting for our brains day in and day out being so connected.
That’s why unplugging from technology is so important so that you give your brain a break!
So how do you unplug from technology?
Turn it all off, play outside, or be present and in the moment with yourself, your family, or your children. Another idea is to pick up a hobby like crocheting, knitting, or scrapbooking!
One way to unplug from technology is dedicating a space to put all of them. I personally like to dedicate one drawer in our kitchen to any of our mobile devices, tablets, Mac book, etc.
When you start prioritizing yourself with self-care, life tends to get a lot easier because instead of serving others from an empty cup, you are overflowing to others.
