Questions to Ask When Hiring Your Wedding Photographer - Bride & Groom Portrait - Brianne Hultzman Photography

It’s no secret that hiring your wedding photographer is one of the biggest tasks on your wedding planning to-do list. When researching for your dream wedding photographer, you should definitely be asking the right questions. Here are questions to ask when hiring your wedding photographer:

What is included in your wedding collection?

This may seem obvious, but many times people will hire a wedding photographer based solely on what that photographer is showing on social media. While it’s important to hire for quality work and someone whose style matches yours, don’t forget to check out what is included in the wedding collection.

Are digital images automatically included? Roughly how many images will you receive? Is there a print allowance? Does the wedding package include an hourly rate?

Investigate before you commit. Don’t go into a working relationship blindly. After all, you will have to sign a contract.

How much editing is included in your images?

Far too many times, brides have hired photographers who they loved and admired only to receive back lightly edited images or no editing included at all. It is important to make sure you are on the same page with your photographer. Do they apply presets or editing to all of the images? Is retouching the skin included? Be in the know before you hire.

When you hire Brianne Hultzman Photography, all images are edited. No heavy editing, but edited and minor skin retouching.

How long is the turnaround time?

Every photographer has a different timeline on how long it takes them to edit a wedding gallery. This can range from 2 weeks to 6 months. Make sure you ask so you know how long your wait time will be.

For Brianne Hultzman Photography, you will receive your full gallery within 4-6 weeks after the wedding.

Can I see a couple of full galleries of weddings you have shot before?

Most people don’t think to ask this, but you have every right to. You are about to invest thousands on your wedding photographer and you want to make sure you know what you are agreeing to. Ask to see a couple of galleries of weddings they have shot before so you can see what is included. Do they give back hundreds of images or the best 100? Do they photograph details? What do the reception images look like?

These questions will settle your anxiety when hiring a wedding photographer and put you at ease that you are making the right decision.
